Get Ready, Florida!

Situation:

After the devastating 2005 hurricane season, which revealed the deadly consequences of being under-prepared for a hurricane, many states redoubled their efforts to engage the public more fully in hurricane education and preparedness. Ron Sachs Communications, as the creator and producer of the highly successful and Emmy Award-winning "National Hurricane Survival Initiative", was poised to help. Our model engaged and educated the public through a dynamic, interactive Web site, earned media coverage producing nearly 200 million media impressions, and a 30-minute television program that aired on network affiliate and cable television stations throughout the 13-state, hurricane-prone region.

Strategy:

Our successful model caught the attention of Florida Governor Jeb Bush, who engaged us to adapt and produce a Florida-specific version of our National Hurricane Survival Test program. Called "Get Ready, Florida!," the Florida program used dramatic, Florida-specific hurricane footage, compelling interviews with Florida officials, hurricane experts and survivors, and an engaging format to help viewers grasp and remember the most important information they need to prepare for and survive a hurricane.
